Across the 8,557 audiobooks in our dataset, genre is the single clearest length signal. Thriller tops the table at an average of 12.3 hours per book; self-help sits at the bottom with 8.1, a 52% gap between the two.
The gap, genre by genre
In finish-time terms, that gap is the difference between a two-week commitment and a three-week one: at 45 minutes of listening a day, the average self-help audiobook takes 11 days to finish and the average thriller takes 17.
